Allegany County, NY, May 6, 2022 - The Allegany-Cattaraugus-Chautauqua Fund for Women (ACC FFW) is excited to announce its 4th annual Mother's Day campaign. After awarding three grants in 2021 and preparing to award more grants this spring (plus an expected additional round of grants to open this fall), the ACC FFW is seeking support to continue expanding its reach, since there is much more work to be done.

A fund named in memory of Dan Daniels, a long-time member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, will support renovations to the church's organ, beginning with a goal of raising of $15,000.

For some 60 years the Dresser-Rand Employees Scholarship has provided scholarship awards for the children of Olean-based Dresser-Rand employees to pursue a post-secondary education.

The Twin Tiers Disc Golf Association [TTDGA], inspired by the idea and efforts of group member Dave Haynes, is gearing up fundraising efforts for a 9-hole disc golf course that is designed with youth and novice players in mind. The course, being installed near Franchot's Children's Memorial Garden this summer, will also extend the garden's mission by including trees and landscape stones that memorialize children in the layout.

The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation scholarship process will open to applications from area students on February 1.

The Lee W. and Jeremie L. Swartz Pitt-Bradford Scholarship Fund, recently established at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, will provide annual support for graduates of Olean High School or Archbishop Walsh Academy who plan to continue their education at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (PA).

The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation recently named Tricia Oakley to the position of database and scholarship program manager.

Every year, Cattaraugus County Sheriff deputies flood the aisles of Walmart and local stores with the mission of bringing gifts and Christmas joy to needy area families. This year the Santa Sheriff program will support 71 children from 22 families in Cattaraugus County.

Again this year, the annual grants made from the Kaleigh Wilday Endowment Fund include several Ellicottville-based organizations, honoring the outpouring of love and support that the Wilday family has received from the Ellicottville community since the establishment of the Kaleigh Wilday Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.

Recently established at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, the Fox Derwick Family Supporting Children in the Arts Fund will provide children and youth in the Olean community financial support to attend classes and programs in the fine and performing arts.

A $1,737 grant from the Carroll and Dolores Anstaett Gift Tree fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation will again help the Gift Tree program, administered by Interfaith Caregivers, ensure that underprivileged families in Cattaraugus County will wake to presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

Seventy-six nonprofits from across the Cattaraugus County region are set to participate in Cattaraugus Gives, the region's day of giving, on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at cattaraugusgives.org.

Since Veterans Day of 2006, the Olean Veterans Wall of Honor memorial has stood in War Veterans Park as a reminder of all of the local service men and women who had sacrificed their lives in active duty.

When skateboarding legend Tony Hawk donated his blood to be painted into 100 skateboards, he probably did not think it would play a major role in a group of Ellicottville skatepark advocates meeting a match offered by The Skatepark Project, a nonprofit that Hawk founded himself.
