Impact of Grants

The CRCS Outdoors program, an extension of the Cuba-Rushford Central School Fisheries and Wildlife Technology classes, each year receives a grant from the Kaleigh Wilday Endowment at CRCF to support student trips to explore wildlife in the United States and abroad. In 2014 students from the program traveled to New Zealand. Participant Derrick Robinson was grateful for the experience:

Thank you for changing my life. In providing the money to support my lifetime dream I am forever changed. The best week of my entire life is now complete and I could not be more happy and thankful for the opportunity that you helped to provide for me.CRCS Outdoors

I was taken away by the beauty of a place so different. Things like white capped mountains every direction you looked, waking up to a valley free of inhabitants besides ourselves, and spotting majestic animals from the lodge. These great experiences that I gained on this trip triggered a spark, a spark to continue traveling. As a freshman at Saint Lawrence University this fall I joined a group called Literacy for Nepal in which I will travel to Nepal following my spring semester this year if everything goes smoothly with our grant application. Other things that are on my list are a trip to Africa with Scott along with whatever else becomes available to me. I would not be the person I am right now without the life experiences I gained through this trip. I am so extremely thankful to you for helping me make the New Zealand trip a reality.
