Four Franklinville/Ten Broeck Academy graduates recently received scholarship awards administered by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Catherine McAuley and Gabriela Chesebro received the Rebekah Love Family Scholarship for $500 each.
The Rebekah Love Family Scholarship was established anonymously in honor of the donor’s former kindergarten teacher, Rebekah Love.
Making its first award in 2024, the Rebekah Love Family Scholarship is for a graduating student of Franklinville Central School who has demonstrated academic success and is pursuing a post-secondary degree. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in an education- or nursing-related field of study.
McAuley will study nursing at Jamestown Community College. Chesebro will study business management at Keuka College.
McAuley also received the Nancy Allen Memorial Scholarship for $500.
The Nancy Allen Memorial Scholarship is for a student graduating from Franklinville Central School/Ten Broeck Academy who is pursuing study or a career in the health-care field. Established by the family of Nancy Allen, this scholarship memorializes Mrs. Allen, a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy and University at Buffalo. Nancy was most well-known as being one of the first home health nurses in the Franklinville and Olean Area.
Olivia Frank received the Ernst Family Scholarship for $1,500 and the Ginger D. Schroder Legislative District 3 Scholarship for $500.
The Ernst Family Scholarship, established by members of the Ernst family in honor of Gerry and Dianne Ernst’s 50th wedding anniversary, is for graduating seniors of Franklinville Central School in good academic standing planning to pursue a degree at any post-secondary college or career/technical school. Preference is for a student pursuing study or a career in a math or science field who is active in community service and extracurricular activities. Gerry and Dianne Ernst were long-time teachers in the Franklinville School District.
Ginger D. Schroder, of Farmersville, established this scholarship through her legislative salary after being elected to the Cattaraugus County Legislature. The Ginger D. Schroder Legislative District 3 Scholarship is given to a graduating high school student residing in Cattaraugus County Legislative District 3, which covers the towns of Ellicottville, Farmersville, Franklinville, Lyndon, Machias and Mansfield, who will pursue a trade degree or 2- or 4-year college degree.
Frank will study biology at Keuka College.
Aubrey McClory-Ensell received the Josephine S. Pepper Memorial Agriculture Scholarship for $2,500.
This scholarship is for students who have completed at least three units of agriculture and have been a FFA member for at least two years. The number of awards and award amounts varies from year to year.
McClory-Ensell will study equine rehabilitation at SUNY Morrisville.
