Seven local graduates received healthcare/technical scholarships from the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Olivia Graham of Allegany-Limestone and Cara Ossont of Franklinville received the Pat McGee Nursing Scholarship for $700 each.
The scholarship is given to traditional and non-traditional students from the 57th State Senate District, which includes much of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, who are pursuing nursing degrees. Established through the Pat McGee Endowment Fund, the scholarship memorializes the 57th district’s late state senator.
Graham will study nursing at Jamestown Community College. Ossont will study nursing at the University at Buffalo.
Brennen Burroughs and Norra Anastasia, both of Olean, received the Paul and Betty Hanson Career/Technical Scholarship for $800 each.
The scholarship, established by the late Paul Hanson and his wife, Betty Hanson, is awarded annually to one or two graduating Olean High School students pursuing a post-secondary career or technical education at a trade or technical school. Students pursuing other majors may be chosen if no applicants are pursuing a trade education.
Burroughs will study welding at Alfred State College. Anastasia will study environmental science at SUNY New Paltz.
Jaelyn Wojewoda-Ko of Allegany-Limestone and Rose Scordo of Olean received the Sara Mollica Memorial Scholarship for $350 each.
The Sara Mollica Memorial Scholarship provides two scholarships each year, one for Allegany-Limestone Central School and one for Olean High School, for students pursuing post-secondary education in a career/technical field or health-care related field of study.
Wojewoda-Ko will attend Afred University to study psychology. Scordo will study physician assistant studies at Daemen University.
Payton Reynolds of Olean received the Thomas & Robert Smythe Scholarship.
The Smythe scholarship is a $2,500 award available to Olean High School graduating seniors pursuing a nursing degree. Established as part of the Olean City School District Scholarship Fund through the estate of Phyllis G. Cridler Family Trust, the scholarship is name in memory of Mrs. Cridler’s sons, Thomas and Robert.
Reynolds will study nursing at Jamestown Community College.
