A number of area nonprofit organizations recently received support from endowment funds at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, together totaling over $15,000.
These endowment funds – including the Samuel Costa Endowment Fund, Paul and Betty Hanson Fund, Paul and Mary Janowicz Memorial Fund, Kothari Family Fund, Laine Family Fund, Carroll Anstaett Olean Little League Fund, Carroll and Dolores Anstaett Olean Community Theatre Endowment Fund and Beth Todd Memorial Fund – were all established to provide reliable annual funding to causes loved by the donor.
The Paul and Betty Hanson Fund, established by Paul and Betty Hanson of Olean, allowed for four grants to causes loved by Betty Hanson and her late husband, Paul, who passed away in 2018. Grants were made to Mercy Flight WNY, Town of Olean Fire Department, Olean General Hospital Foundation and Olean Public Library, each for $217.25.
Another fund established the Hansons, The Paul and Mary Janowicz Memorial Fund, which memorializes Ms. Hanson’s parents, made possible three grants, each of $188.66 to the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., Olean General Hospital Foundation for the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center Fund and Olean Public Library.
The Kothari Family Fund, established by Dr. Ashok Kothari and Dr. Yogini Kothari, supported two grants, one to the Olean General Hospital Foundation for $1,000 and another to the Olean Food Pantry for $250.
Two funds established by the late Carroll Anstaett and his wife Dolores Anstaett, also supported two grants to organizations loved by the couple. The Carroll Anstaett Olean Little League Fund made its annual distribution to the little league, this year totaling $5,961. The Carroll and Dolores Anstaett Olean Community Theatre Endowment Fund made possible a $1,432 distribution to support the organization.
The Beth Todd Memorial Fund, established by Todd’s husband Greg Todd after his wife lost her battle with breast cancer, made possible a $716 grant to the Pink Pumpkin Project in memory of Mrs. Todd.
The Samuel Costa Endowment Fund, established by Samuel Costa of Smethport, PA, made possible three grants to: St. Elizabeth’s Church, $1,809; St. Raphael’s Church, $904.50; and Hamlin Memorial Library, $904.50.
The Laine Family Fund, which was established by Peter Laine, an Olean native now living in Asheville, NC, Made possible a grant of $1,000 to Asheville-based nonprofit Pan Harmonia, which brings chamber music performances to the Asheville community.
Over the years, these endowment funds have together made possible over $178,500 in grants to support the organizations chosen by the donors.
