Four area seniors recently received the Daniel and Patrick McCarthy Scholarship, managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, to support their goals of pursuing careers in business.
Andrew Steighner of Portville, Bradley Bergstrom of Hinsdale, Heartly Phipps of Olean and Samuel Edwards of Ellicottville each received the Daniel and Patrick McCarthy Scholarship for various amounts.
The scholarship, given through the generosity of the Catherine M. Cridler Trust, honors Daniel and Patrick McCarthy, two individuals instrumental in the success of the Olean Business Institute. The scholarship is available to graduating students in Cattaraugus County or McKean and Potter (PA) counties pursuing a business degree.
Steighner plans to attend Geneva College to major in business. Bergstrom plans to attend St. Bonaventure University to study business management.
Phipps will attend Ohio State University to major in fashion merchandising. Edwards plans to study business administration at Houghton University.
