Three local graduates recently received scholarship awards from funds managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
Alexander Linderman and Riti Anumalasetty received the OHS Class of 1961 Scholarship for $650 each.
Established by Duane A. Geuder, a 1961 Olean High School alumnus, and his classmates, the scholarship honors the class and its teachers, in particular Norm Utecht and Mabel Wilson. The scholarship is given to one male and one female student who has the top GPA in their math and science classes.
Linderman will study geology at SUNY Brockport. Anumalasetty will study biology at St. Bonaventure University.
Molly Berlinski, of Allegany-Limestone Central School, received the OHS Class of 1983 Scholarship for $500.
This scholarship was created by the Olean High School Class of 1983 in memory of all of the deceased members of the class. The scholarship shall be awarded with first preference to a graduating high school senior who is a relative of a member of the Olean High School Class of 1983, with second preference for a graduating senior of Olean High School who is active in extracurriculars and/or community service.
Berlinski will attend St. Bonaventure University to study sports studies.
