Joel Graves
Joel Graves, a 2019 Olean High School graduate and recipient of the JoAnn Wehmeyer English Scholarship, completed a successful freshman year at SUNY ESF (College of Environmental Science and Forestry). Graves carried a 3.5 GPA as a landscape architecture major in his first year. SUNY ESF is located across the street from Syracuse University shares a number of classes and activities with SU. Graves and his friends often frequented the SU Tennity Ice Rink, among other Syracuse campus activities. Along with many of his classmates, he frequented the sprawling, historic Oakwood Cemetery, which borders SUNY ESF and serves as a focal point in the landscape architecture program. In Syracuse he was also able to attend the NYS fair and the Syracuse global climate strike. He is currently considering studying abroad in Europe as part of his academic program and studying urban sustainability and green design.
