Christine Pagett
The pandemic has changed the college experience of many students, but for Christine Pagett, a 2019 Portville Central School graduate and John J. Murphy Family Scholarship recipient, the pandemic hasn’t interrupted her dedication to education. Pagett is currently Ohio State University and studying in industrial and systems engineering. She is currently involved with a number of engineering student groups, including the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) and Buckeye Precious Plastic (BPP). As a member of the IISE consulting team, she worked to consult on the ergonomics (efficiency of a working environment) of the Ohio State dining experience. She is also the vice president of BPP, an organization dedicated to finding creative solutions to reducing plastic waste. Beginning this summer, she will be working with Abbott Nutrition on a packaging engineering co-op. According to Pagett, her experience in the classroom has only heightened her love and passion for engineering. She plans to narrow her studies to the engineering program’s manufacturing technical track.
