Laura Wilhelm, a 2021 Portville Central School graduate and John J. Murphy Family Scholarship recipient, is now in her sophomore year at Nazareth College where she is studying physical therapy and psychology. This semester, Wilhelm has served as an anatomy tutor for fellow students. In her first semester of her sophomore year, she completed psychology research that she then presented at the Eastern Psychological Association conference in Boston. Outside of the classroom she is involved in Nazareth’s club volleyball team and is an assistant to the school’s athletic director. She plans to finish her bachelor’s in psychology in 2024 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy by 2027. Her goal is to eventually work in women’s health or outpatient orthopedics.
